Samtaz was born into a merchant family in the city of Iron Forge. As a youngster he always had his nose in a book. Having shown a particular interest in magic, he was apprenticed to the wizards’ guild. Upon completing his apprenticeship, the guild master gave Sam a special journeyman assignment: He was to accompany Palin son of Paladur on his quest to regain the throne of the ancient kingdom of Balladur.
Samtaz is nicknamed “Lucky Sam” because things always seem to turn out right for him, even when they’re going wrong. He has been studying divination in the hope of understanding his good luck and taking better advantage of it.
